COVID19 Testing in Kanpur - The Most Important Puzzle

First step is to have the correct testing of COVID19.

IMPORTANT LEARNING ->
Always confirm from the Pathology Lab or Hospital what testing type are they conducting for the Corona or Corona Suspected patients.

Three types of testing is happening for COVID19 :

1. Rapid Antigen Testing (also called RAT) - Quick Results - 50% Reliability, positives are confirmed cases.
2. TRUENAT Testing - Result in 24 hours - Semi-Reliable - a time-waste, never opt for it.
3. RT-PCR Testing - Result in 24 hours - Most Confirmatory test, positives are confirmed cases, negatives are non-confirmed.

Details of Testing Types

Rapid Antigen Testing - FREE OF COST -

Govt Authorised Centre for COVID Testing - List here
In my knowledge is available in Gandhi Gram in our locality - Nagriya Prathmic Sewa Kendra,

how to reach -- > Go straight from Saral Nursing Home till the T-point of GT Road. Don't go right or left, but go straight on the kaccha road, and you would find it there as soon as you get down on this.

Gandhi Gram testing timings are - 11AM - 1PM, better to reach an hour before and get the number as testing kits are limited in numbers = 60.

Results are announced then and there after the testing.

TRUENAT Testing : never go for this!!!

This is the testing being done in Hallet for patients admitted there, again free of cost.
Test team keep taking frequent round for new patients being admitted and take out the samples.

Results and reports are not handed over but they publish printouts at various places in a tabular format. Keep a picture of same as it would be the only evidence to have the TRUENAT Testing being done for the patient. Printouts are published everyday between 11AM-12PM.

This testing is unreliable. Whether Positive or negative, can't be trusted. For my patient, who was actually positive TRUENAT test result was Negative and therefore delayed the CORONA related treatments.

RT-PCR Testing

This is the most reliable testing but results are given after 24-48 hours.

If you get a negative test result, and there are symptoms or not, you should opt for at-least 2 tests sample taken 24 hours apart. If sample is not taken properly, or timing wasn't right ie too early there are chances that you might get false negative. This is a threatening situation since rest of the treatment highly depends on the result of this testing.

Hallet is charging 2200/- for this testing, for patients being admitted they weren't doing it earlier around July 20th but after the Govt orders - now they are doing only the RT-PCR testing.

GIAN PATHOLOGY -- Home Sample Collection (Whatsapp = 7052113355)
They have this whatsapp number - 7052113355 on which they talk properly, their reception is very bad atleast on Mobile call (+91 8808051576). They are ready to collect sample from home on providing the rider some extra charge, approx 300/- Rs for Jajmau. I have never asked what document they would need, you may ask this on their whatsapp number.

PARAKH - DR. Lal Path Labs -- Visit Required (Whatsapp = 7705016640)
PALIWAL FOR COVID19 Testing -- 0512 2232962

DETAILED INFO OF TESTING PROCEDURE -

We have got it done in a private lab, Prakhar Diagnostic (Inside the same campus as Gold Gym in front of JS Tower-Derby near to the Christ Church College Bada Chauraha). They would charge 2500/- Rs for this testing.

You need to go there with the printout of 2 copy of Aadhaar Cards for every person and 2 copies of the doctor's prescription. These two documents are mandatory and they won't allow without these two documents whatever you show them, nothing matters.
Person available there would fill a form on your behalf - and ask your address, phone no, Dr name, Sickness details etc - a lot of patience is needed throughout this process.

Parakh is testing CORONA in their basement, it's better to be there once previous person before you has gone for the sample collection, don't sit there for long as it looks like a very infected place, so keep a tab on the person ahead of you to decide when to go into the basement. For every person, sample collection takes around 3-4 min and you may calculate looking at the serial number an approximate interval by when you need to go into the basement.

Timings -
Earlier (around 11-12 in morning) you go , lesser is the crowd. No benefit of going after 5PM as they wont take the samples, although they claim taking samples till 7PM but they stop taking inputs around 5PM. They also take a break between 3:45PM - 4:15PM in Parakh.

Person taking the sample would issue you a blue slip, keep it carefully to collect the report. Also ensure that they write your correct spelling and name on the Blue Slip, especially the first and the last name - this step is important if you are planning to download the report online later on.

Reports -
If you enquire there, they would ask you to collect reports from their centre. But the same report could be downloaded online without visiting their centre again. Steps are as below --

  1. You need to look at their blue slip and Barcode, there would be a number like 223622850F
  2. Open website for Dr Lal Path Labs (https://www.lalpathlabs.com/) and use the 9-digit number above without the last Alphabet character.
  3. Password is your Last Name, if there is no last name then your name in upper-case is the password. Make sure blue slip contains the right name for you, otherwise it would be very difficult for you to get the correct password.
For us the generation of report took almost 36-40 hours. They commit for 48 hours although. No SMS or email would ever arrive for the availability of reports.

If report says - "Repeat Sample" then you might need to visit again and provide the sample, they take repeat samples between 12PM - 4PM. Go there again with the Blue slip, Test Report saying "Repeat Sample" , Aaadhar card -- this time 3 copies of each of the document. Doctor prescription is not required for the "Repeat Sample" testing.
